Make the task smaller
Replace “learn the whole table” with a small section for today. Practice multiplication by 2, review it tomorrow, and add a few nearby facts only when the child is ready.
Do not start with speed
Speed is useful after a fact is familiar. If the child still calculates 7 x 8 every time, a strict timer adds pressure instead of understanding.
Repeat mistakes without punishment
A mistake marks a fact that is not secure yet. Give a similar example later, return to the original one, and show that progress is built through repetition.
- keep sessions short
- use facts the child already knows as anchors
- add only a few new facts at a time
- show progress visually
How Extramath fits this route

FAQ
Can the table be learned in one day?
A child can notice patterns quickly, but stable recall usually needs several short practice sessions.
What if the child already hates multiplication?
Start with very easy facts, remove comparison, and rebuild a feeling of control before adding hard facts.
